WC-Marker is releasing their first original products and I think it is a bigger deal than they are making out to be. Their focus on making things more affordable have led them to releasing their own pants. This may not seem earth shattering as there are many pant options on the market, until you see the price.

Who?

I first learned about WC-Marker when they were advertising a repair service in my area. They quickly grew into a reseller for used gear, similar to Trade My Gun in the USA. Over time they began bringing in new in box products and eventually landed a contract as the Canadian distributor for MacDev. If you have not heard of them before, rest assured this is not some fly by night company, they are here for the long hall.

Style and substance

Getting back to their pants, as mentioned WC is offering them in two flavors. The first is a more traditional paintball that will be right at home in the more modern game. They are somewhat of a hybrid with a flexible fabric from the knees up and a “Gore Tex like” material from the knees down. This should be a good balance of durability and mobility.

Their second offering are joggers, the lighter style pants that have really taken over the speedball world. Like their other pants, these have pockets for swabs and zipper pockets for player ID’s and other items you may need with you on the field.

Pure value

Now you may be thinking that these look like fairly standard offerings, but like I said earlier the price is what makes these really stand out. Their hybrid pants will be starting at $85 CAD (at the moment about $61 USD), with the joggers coming in at only $55 CAD ($40 USD).

For buyers in the USA these are great prices, but for us in Canada these are unheard of at roughly half the price of the usual name brand pants on offer. At the time of writing this there are name brand jogger style pants selling as high as $300 CAD. WC-Marker has said that their mission is to make paintball more affordable and they really have put their best foot forward in this regard. If the quality is there, and from what I have heard from their testers it is, these pants have a chance of making a big splash in the industry.

If you are on the hunt for new pants be sure to give WC a look. One of my players was testing them at a recent event and had nothing but good things to say. I know they will be the first pants I look at when my current ones wear out.
